West Suffolk College (part of Eastern Colleges Group) and Dereham Netheard School host The Suffolk, Norfolk & Colchester Computing Hub Collaboration.
Our DfE funded Computing Hubs provide support for schools to develop informal and formal Computer Science.
The strength of the collaboration means that we can provide support for all schools across all three areas, through economy of scale, and by combining and deploying the right support consultants for the right purpose.
We offer teachers:
The National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) is the body that oversees the Computing Hubs and is funded by the Department for Education.
Locally led Face-to-face or live remote local Courses: in the Suffolk or Colchester area.
The CQF (Computing Quality Framework)
Teachcomputing.org: the national hub for the full range of on-demand, face-to-face and live remote courses hosted by other hubs from across the country.

What is a teacher encounter?
The New Anglia Careers Hub Teacher Encounter programme provides an opportunity for teachers to engage directly with employers to see and learn about the different career pathways relevant to their subjects, and to observe how their subject is applied practically in business.
Teachers can then meaningfully use these insights to enrich their curriculum teaching, helping their students build a deeper understanding of opportunities, connections between learning and industry and the essential skills that need to be honed for different roles. There are a number of pathways and routes into employment, in particular technical and vocational options like apprenticeships. This knowledge can empower educators to effectively support students to take their best next step.
Teacher encounters can take many forms, from two hours to multiple days, face-to-face, virtual or a mix of both. From just one teacher to multiple colleagues.

A STEM Ambassador is a voluntary role undertaken by someone who has a passion and/or professional knowledge of STEM subjects. Our volunteers give their time and enthusiasm to work with young people in schools and in the community, with the shared goal of inspiring the next generation to continue a STEM pathway. The level of involvement a STEM Ambassador wishes to have in the programme is up to the individual. We know that even giving a couple of hours of their own time can make a positive impact on a young person.
Educators can post requests for one of our volunteers via our online platform.

The NCCE Computing Quality Framework (CQF) for Schools
The National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) Computing Quality Framework (CQF) is intended to help schools review their progress in developing an exemplary computing curriculum.
CQF Self-Review Tool
The framework takes schools through each aspect of computing, helping them to access the NCCE’s wide range of report functions, and resources for progress. The development of the framework was funded by the DfE .
The Computing Hubs will be able to focus their support based on the outcomes of the self-reviews of schools in their regions.
